CRSF and Group 1001 Open a YDP On the Grounds of Gainbridge Field at McCulloch Park

Muncie, IN (August 17, 2022) – Yesterday, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation (CRSF), in partnership with Group 1001 and the City of Muncie, announced the official opening of the Foundation’s Youth Development Park (YDP). This multi-purpose turf park is located on the grounds of Gainbridge Field at McCulloch Park in Muncie, Indiana.  

This is the110th YDP to be built through the CRSF and gifted to a youth-serving organization. The Gainbridge Field is a direct result of the Foundation’s partnership with Group1001 that began in 2018 with a $5M gift. The park’s official opening included a ribbon-cutting ceremony with appearances from Cal Ripken, Jr., Mayor Dan Ridenour, representatives of both the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation and Group 1001, and other leading community members. 

Group 1001 has supported the transformation of multiple YDP projects across the country, and funded many CRSF programs that impact underserved communities every day as part of its strong commitment to service and community transformation. Group 1001 invests in strategic partnerships as part of their mission to transform communities through sports and education.

By the end of 2022, Group 1001’s partnership with CRSF will have developed 14 Youth Development Parks in states including Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, and Washington, D.C.
