Indy Women in Tech (IWiT) kicked off Women’s History Month by hosting the inaugural EMPOWERIndy Expo, presented by TechPoint. EMPOWERIndy is an event aimed to provide women currently in or interested in the tech sector with better access to jobs, leadership, and workshop opportunities.
Women from all around Indiana spent the day networking with tech companies, participating in resumé building working sessions, taking professional photos, engaging in professional development workshops, and listening to a panel speak about the tech world.
“This year’s EMPOWERIndy Expo was an inaugural Indy Women in Tech event designed to open more doors to great opportunities for women in tech, here in Indiana,” said Karen Maginn, President of Clear Spring Life Marketing and Director and Chair of IWiT.“ With over 150 attendees signed up, 18 organization booths, four compelling workshops, resumé building stations, professional headshots, and a panel of powerhouse women, our attendees were able to prepare, learn, and test their abilities. The results were astounding! Numerous women received job offers, many joined or signed up with resource organizations, most updated their resumes and headshots, as well as extended their networks with new connections.”
At Group 1001, we are committed to investing in strategic partnerships like IWiT, an organization that has enabled hundreds of women to move into tech careers and achieve financial freedom for the first time in their lives.
Indy Women in Tech
IWiT’s mission is to inspire women and girls of all ages to pursue STEM related careers through mentoring, financial support, and education. IWiT has also designed a comprehensive and innovative approach, by partnering with multiple local organizations, to help women enter, re-enter or transition into the tech workforce. The education and training program, launched in May of 2017, strives to help women obtain and finance the necessary training, education, and mentoring to succeed in a tech-related career.
