1001 Hours of Impact Recap – Arsenal Tech

On July 19 and 20, approximately 70 employees came together to positively impact the lives of young students in the Indianapolis community. As part of our 1001 Hours of Impact, we partnered with Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation to renovate Arsenal Technical High School’s fitness spaces, meeting and media room, and the culinary arts wing.

“I’m so thankful to be given the opportunity to be part of such an incredible transformation at Arsenal Tech High School! It was a fun day of hard work and great team building. It was amazing what Group 1001 and the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation were able to accomplish in two short days with results that will benefit the students at Arsenal Tech for many years to come,” said Megan Weaver, Associate Director, Agency Administration.

During the first day, many of the Group 1001 volunteers helped renovate the school’s fitness room. According to Darren Thomas, Director of Athletics for IPS, the weight room is a key component for all students and the school’s wellness program, not just athletes.

Scott Kelly, Associate Director, Model Validation, was excited to be part of this group. “I was a wrestler from 10 years old to the end of college – so I was fired up to do some hard work in a weight room again.”

On the second day, volunteers helped prepare a nutritious meal, which volunteers and students enjoyed, and continued to put together classroom equipment and completed the gym rebuild.

“The Group 1001 Hours of Impact is significant as it allows the organization to foster community relationships and create a sense of social responsibility. I enjoyed volunteering at Arsenal Teach High School as they do much outside the classroom to help their students. I enjoyed assembling classroom equipment and connecting with other Group 1001 employees,” said Ariel Crawley, Indy Women in Tech Community Outreach Coordinator.

Arsenal Technical High School is a part of the largest school district in Indiana, Indianapolis Public Schools.
