Brothers Serve in Army Reserves and Work Together at Group 1001

Military Appreciation Month

As we celebrate Military Appreciation Month, two brothers deserve recognition for serving the United States Army and Group 1001. Josh Satterfield, Senior Manager for Clear Spring Life & Annuity Company (CSLAC) and Delaware Life, and brother Isaac Satterfield, Team Lead for Delaware Life, sit about 15 feet away from each other in the Group 1001 Zionsville headquarters. Just 15 months apart in age, both Satterfields proudly serve our country and company.

Josh and Isaac have dedicated 38 years to military service, combined. Josh joined the Army Reserves in 2000 and was deployed to an active-duty status in 2003 to the Middle East for 15 months. Upon his return, he went to Indiana University studying finance and anthropology. He has remained active in the Reserves for 22 years and plans to retire in 2023. Josh is based out of Fort Benjamin Harrison and travels once a month on the Inspections Team and handles the safety, IT, and administration portion of the inspections.

Josh joined Delaware Life in 2016 as a Customer Service Coordinator and was promoted three times over seven years to Team Lead, to Manager, to Senior Manager, where he now works at CSLAC.

“Group 1001 is very military-friendly, so I often refer my friends and family to join this great company,” Josh said. “I love the financial field and helping people, so it’s a perfect fit. There are many opportunities for growth here.”

Isaac followed in Josh’s footsteps, but at an earlier age. He joined the Army Reserves in high school and then went to active duty upon graduation. He was trained in Georgia and deployed to the Middle East in 2005 on two different tours, totaling three years. He returned and went to Indiana University to earn his bachelor’s degree while still in the Reserves. He took a few years off from military life but rejoined ROTC in 2016. In 2018 he was commissioned as an Officer and continued drilling in Florida, commuting monthly from Indiana. He recently transferred to Fort Benjamin Harrison and is expected to be promoted to Captain. When Josh retires from the military, Isaac will take over his brother’s duties on the Inspections Team.

Military Medals

Isaac was referred by Josh to Group 1001 and joined Delaware Life in September 2021. He started as a Customer Service Coordinator and was promoted to Team Lead the following year.

“When I joined the Army Reserves, it was after Sept. 11, 2001, and I wanted to deploy and serve my country,” Isaac said. “I learned discipline which has helped me in my career. People here at Group 1001 are driven, work towards goals together, and are very friendly. It’s a great place to work.”

Josh nominated Group 1001 and Delaware Life for an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) award that recognizes companies that promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Service members and their civilian employers. Delaware Life was honored with the Above & Beyond Award in 2019 for its support of employees in the military.

Group 1001 thanks Josh and Isaac Satterfield for their continued dedication and service to our country, as well as their fellow colleagues and clients.
